Home site

I am sure I could do better but for now this is where I live. The print is small because I didn't pick a good font to be more readable but will do some work learning how to enlarge it next time. If you were to look back to the other picture this one would be in a diferent directional setting. up here is north and right east, left west and south down just like a real map would be set. the area covered is not as much as the other one but once your adjusted to it it should be clear. At one time my great grandfather owned all the land to the east of the main road on the rght of middle. the dark area to the east of my house are trees that I had planted...all red pine.

Iron Ore

This is an aeral view of where I live. If you look closly you will see a line starting with a circle that includs the property where I live. (lower left) if you follow the line it will be going south directionally then turn to the east for a few blocks and again go south. the area to the south has been mined and anything that looks like a lake is actually a mining pit filled with water. The trail will turn to the west and then head back north toward the bottom of the map. The last leg is to the east to my house along the Rail Road grade that was part of my last blog...the iron ore is in every dircetion around my house and in fact thru the entire county which is named Iron County.

descriptive blog

this is my view from my computer. You can see on the left a bird feeder in the lower window and another feeder in the upper part of the window. You might make out our countries flag from the pole on the left central part of the window and the dark area running the length of the window is an abandon rail road line that once took out the iron ore from this area. They are not mining here now. Above the grade is a bank of clouds which cut the sky in a line from left to right. The odd looking thing on the top of the picture is a wicker basket that has one plant and is hanging from the ceiling mainly because I have little or no room for it on any flat surfice.

Christmas decorations

The time has come to put up some Christmas decorations around the house so I get to use some of the ones I had made during the year. They may be kind of hard to see on the TV but if you enlarge the picture they may show up a little better.
We have little room to put anything up so have no tree inside...just one I made out on our deck of lights and a pole. Looks good at night when all you see are the lights. Not many notice it during the day since it is not lit then

Sunday, December 9, 2007

Hello everyone...the other day I joined a newly started group at my college inCircle network of alumni. This one is called English Majors and book lovers. It looks like a very good site for me to be in, since I am very interested in the college I had gone to, Northern Michigan University, and still do a lot of reading. So far the group seems to be doing well and has picked up one more member since I joined as well as giving me a new author to read.

I had made the owls and placed them on the book some time ago and now use that as my picture on the site I just joined as well as any other postings I may do there...kind of fitting for a book reading site.

more plants

This is another hobby of mine and it is very slow to develop. I like to get seeds from plants and start them in the house. Some times they will grow but many wild plants just don't seem to get started... the one on the left is one that I am trying go get started now...it is a wild plant that I don't know the name of but has an airy appearence like a fine fern. I found it on one of my summer walks and was able to get some seeds which grow in a red pod or berry on the plant. When I broke open the berry there were two seeds in each one of the pods. I have around 10 seeds in potting soil now and hope to have enough plants started to put them in my front yard to cover up the hill that is hard to cut the grass on. I will keep everyone up on the progress of the plants and hope they germinate soon.

computer problems

the picture has nothing to do with what I am blogging about today but thought it would be nice to look at while I am complaining about something else...Today I tried to get online and the phone company wouldn't accept the dial up number. Because of that I had to go into the setup in the computer and re-write my dial up number to conform to how they wanted it. I have no idea why this should come up in the middle of the night as I was trying to go online. Makes no sense to me but then most of what happens on here is a mystery.

winter in other places

I am not sure where this picture came from but it is someplace in China that has snow. I would like to know if anyone can identify it. Like anyone even reads a blog on this site...lol. I have been getting some comments from my one friend on here who I also comment on, and it is very helpful to get feedback on my blogs. Even with the problems I have been encountering on here it is still kind of fun to write them and learn a bit more about the system. Since I was a teacher I believe it is better to learn something than just give up once you have problems.

baking for breakfast

I just made these rolls yesterday from some frozen bread dough. Had one for breakfast and they do tasteas good as they look here. Won't take too long before I will have to figure out something else to eat, since both my wife and I will be having them every day at breakfast time...only 9 rolls so they won't last the week.

computer plants

It seems that most of what wrong with my post today was of my own making...the picture I posted was small because of just that...it was small. Took another one so you can see the jungle here and hope it makes up for my mistake

Computer Plants

This has not been a good start for my blog...couldn't get the add picture to work in the begining then could now get the size of the picture to load..should have been large as I selected. Now looking at the small picture I can hardly tell what it is let alone anyone who doesn't know what went on there to start with...

It is sort of a hobby raising plants and I have them growing around my computer which is in the east and south windows of the house so they are in a good place to recieve light in the winter. Luckly the heat is already in the house or nothing would grow including my wife and myself.

I now see I also lost my color to write with so will just end the blog before it ends for me.

more snow day

As I said we were going to get about 6 more inches and that is what you see in this picture. I didn't measure it but estimate there is at least 5 additional inches.
It took me about as long to find the cord to start the snowblower as it did to blow out the snow in the driveway your looking at. Had it hanging in back of everything and I thought my wife moved it but it was me.. I put it where I could find it .....not
I think this is enough time spent on telling you about our snow...I'm sure it will come up and up again till spring but I will try not to do anymore talking about it.

another day of snow

This is very much how it looks here today..by tomorrow just add another 6 inches of snow on top of what we have here now and you will be seeing tomorrows blog I think. The season of Winter is probably going to be with us till spring this year...last year we got no snow till just a day before Christmas and today is the first of December so it will be a bit longer this year.
I hope everyone is enjoying what weather they have wherever they are..I talk to friends in Florida and they are in the mid 80's and even Georgia is on the warm side now 65 degrees.

parents

For those who viewed the last blog you saw the house that my grandparents lived in..these are where my parents now reside and it also would have been the house where both he and his grandparents lived infact the entire 40 acres was part of the homestead where they lived. This would include the cemetery where they all are now.
It happens to be everyday life for us all and not all that far from where I am living now. I have been trying to locate some of my classmates from College now and have been informed that at least 4 have passed away. We graduated in 1956 so it has been over 50 years since that time. The time sure keeps on going by and it seems to be going faster and faster now days.

from the old to the new

This house in the foregrounds is where my grandparents lived when they were living..now we live in the field to the right of the house..actually in a brickcrete house toward the road going by the field. The old house is still there and my cousin lives there when he is in town...usually the summer since he works in Korea teaching during most of the year.
I would guess the picture would date back to the late 1800's. There is now a cemetery behind the house and many trees so you could not see the buildings way back from the house. The houses on the right are old mining company houses and many have been moved or now are owned by relatives of miners who have long ago passed away and are in the cemetery.

growing up

Hopefully I will get my picture uploaded to make this blog a bit more interesting..hoping to get two loaded but will be satisfied with the one.. This is about my daugthers but esp. the youngest one. As they were growing up I saved all the school pictures and made them into a group picture for each of the three daughters so you can see them growing and eventually leaving the home here...this one just left this year...a month or so ago. As they are growing up it seems like a forever process but now everything is really picking up and going by even faster.

end of visit

our Thanksgiving visit of our daughter and family is now over and all are returning home. In the picture you see my daughter with Matthew and her friend on the left Michael with her daughter Taylor. Matthew and Taylor are on the changed logo pic if it got to where it was intended to go..just have to wait and see.
as in all visits time is just not long enough to do all the things one wants to do but as the title indicates that is just everyday life.

visiting

I will give the blog another try..don't think I can manage putting on more than one pic so will stop with this one. We are visiting our daughter at our house for Thanksgiving and took this picture of her with our grandson Matthew. They will be in town for a few days so it is a very enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend.

posting dificulty

I tried to load a picture on my blog yesterday and it would not load then I tried to write a blog on how much problems are seeming to be happening with this site and it would not even post the blog..I am aware of many of my friends who are also having problems posting and reading blogs on this site so I am very disapointed about it...bad enough that no one even reads a blog on here but even harder if you can't post one....

grandchildren

grandchildren [Photo]The pictured ones above Faith, Brian and Matthew are the grandchildren we have recieved from our daughters Ann, first two children, and Mary the one on the right. They appear to be at their best behavior on the pictures but in real life they do behave as regular children as they should. I have learned that they will grow up quickly even though I felt that my children would never even get out of high school let alone college. My youngest daughgter just this year has moved out of our house here and she is now 30.At least I have learned from my last blog...I let the picture get to the blog page before I started writing the blog. I once before did blogs and got up to 49 of them before I realized I was writing them for no one to read. These seem to be going the same way since I see no comments on my blog and most people who are using these blogs have a problem even getting to see thier blog.

the brewery form my last blog that wouldn't upload

this is the picture that I couldn't get on my last blog..

another same day

I had to look for a picture to find something to talk about. Outside of setting up for our Legion fish fry tonight my day has been about the same as every other day.

The picture I have is of a Chinese brewery down in Qingdao. The company my daughter works for has a part interest in that brewery so I have an indirect connection in it. If I am really lucky I will be able to get the picture on here once I get back on the Internet. another challenge for me

winter driving

Well I was able to get down to Rhinelander and back and the car is still in one peice. The road down was really bad. We had snow, sleet, slush and ice on all the way down so it became a very dificult drive of 62 miles one way.

My wife got a good report on her eyes but since she can not see anything it was not any better than it was before. Doesn't look like they will be able to do anything but keep them in check so there is no more vision loss

Wednesday, November 14, 2007

Already the second day. I have added a picture of me reading, since I had been a High School librarian when I actually worked some 21 years ago, it is appropiate. As I said in my last post, I do the same things almost every day I can add that I cooked a meatloaf for dinner as well as all the other things. Since my wife cannot see much anymore, I do most of the cooking unless it is store bought.

Tomorrow I take her to see her eye doctor in Rhinelander, Wis. It may be snowing so I may not be able to get back on here till later. Should give me some time to think of something else to write about.

days end

It doesn't look like I am going to get much out of this first post..attempted to load a picture and it didn't show up on here. Nice sunset that I took yesterday from my front porch and thought it would be nice to add to the end of the day.

It seems that most of my days are about the same in that I do the same things every day. Usually will get some reading done at breakfast then go on the computer for a while. We go to town a few times a week to shop, that would be my wife and I. Normally go out in the evening and end up back on the computer in the evening till it is the end of the day...now

On checking the preview I see I have the picture..time to end this day now.
