Home site

I am sure I could do better but for now this is where I live. The print is small because I didn't pick a good font to be more readable but will do some work learning how to enlarge it next time. If you were to look back to the other picture this one would be in a diferent directional setting. up here is north and right east, left west and south down just like a real map would be set. the area covered is not as much as the other one but once your adjusted to it it should be clear. At one time my great grandfather owned all the land to the east of the main road on the rght of middle. the dark area to the east of my house are trees that I had planted...all red pine.

Iron Ore

This is an aeral view of where I live. If you look closly you will see a line starting with a circle that includs the property where I live. (lower left) if you follow the line it will be going south directionally then turn to the east for a few blocks and again go south. the area to the south has been mined and anything that looks like a lake is actually a mining pit filled with water. The trail will turn to the west and then head back north toward the bottom of the map. The last leg is to the east to my house along the Rail Road grade that was part of my last blog...the iron ore is in every dircetion around my house and in fact thru the entire county which is named Iron County.

descriptive blog

this is my view from my computer. You can see on the left a bird feeder in the lower window and another feeder in the upper part of the window. You might make out our countries flag from the pole on the left central part of the window and the dark area running the length of the window is an abandon rail road line that once took out the iron ore from this area. They are not mining here now. Above the grade is a bank of clouds which cut the sky in a line from left to right. The odd looking thing on the top of the picture is a wicker basket that has one plant and is hanging from the ceiling mainly because I have little or no room for it on any flat surfice.

Christmas decorations

The time has come to put up some Christmas decorations around the house so I get to use some of the ones I had made during the year. They may be kind of hard to see on the TV but if you enlarge the picture they may show up a little better.
We have little room to put anything up so have no tree inside...just one I made out on our deck of lights and a pole. Looks good at night when all you see are the lights. Not many notice it during the day since it is not lit then

Hello everyone...the other day I joined a newly started group at my college inCircle network of alumni. This one is called English Majors and book lovers. It looks like a very good site for me to be in, since I am very interested in the college I had gone to, Northern Michigan University, and still do a lot of reading. So far the group seems to be doing well and has picked up one more member since I joined as well as giving me a new author to read.

I had made the owls and placed them on the book some time ago and now use that as my picture on the site I just joined as well as any other postings I may do there...kind of fitting for a book reading site.

more plants

This is another hobby of mine and it is very slow to develop. I like to get seeds from plants and start them in the house. Some times they will grow but many wild plants just don't seem to get started... the one on the left is one that I am trying go get started now...it is a wild plant that I don't know the name of but has an airy appearence like a fine fern. I found it on one of my summer walks and was able to get some seeds which grow in a red pod or berry on the plant. When I broke open the berry there were two seeds in each one of the pods. I have around 10 seeds in potting soil now and hope to have enough plants started to put them in my front yard to cover up the hill that is hard to cut the grass on. I will keep everyone up on the progress of the plants and hope they germinate soon.

computer problems

the picture has nothing to do with what I am blogging about today but thought it would be nice to look at while I am complaining about something else...Today I tried to get online and the phone company wouldn't accept the dial up number. Because of that I had to go into the setup in the computer and re-write my dial up number to conform to how they wanted it. I have no idea why this should come up in the middle of the night as I was trying to go online. Makes no sense to me but then most of what happens on here is a mystery.

winter in other places

I am not sure where this picture came from but it is someplace in China that has snow. I would like to know if anyone can identify it. Like anyone even reads a blog on this site...lol. I have been getting some comments from my one friend on here who I also comment on, and it is very helpful to get feedback on my blogs. Even with the problems I have been encountering on here it is still kind of fun to write them and learn a bit more about the system. Since I was a teacher I believe it is better to learn something than just give up once you have problems.

baking for breakfast

I just made these rolls yesterday from some frozen bread dough. Had one for breakfast and they do tasteas good as they look here. Won't take too long before I will have to figure out something else to eat, since both my wife and I will be having them every day at breakfast time...only 9 rolls so they won't last the week.

computer plants

It seems that most of what wrong with my post today was of my own making...the picture I posted was small because of just that...it was small. Took another one so you can see the jungle here and hope it makes up for my mistake

Computer Plants

This has not been a good start for my blog...couldn't get the add picture to work in the begining then could now get the size of the picture to load..should have been large as I selected. Now looking at the small picture I can hardly tell what it is let alone anyone who doesn't know what went on there to start with...

It is sort of a hobby raising plants and I have them growing around my computer which is in the east and south windows of the house so they are in a good place to recieve light in the winter. Luckly the heat is already in the house or nothing would grow including my wife and myself.

I now see I also lost my color to write with so will just end the blog before it ends for me.

more snow day

As I said we were going to get about 6 more inches and that is what you see in this picture. I didn't measure it but estimate there is at least 5 additional inches.
It took me about as long to find the cord to start the snowblower as it did to blow out the snow in the driveway your looking at. Had it hanging in back of everything and I thought my wife moved it but it was me.. I put it where I could find it .....not
I think this is enough time spent on telling you about our snow...I'm sure it will come up and up again till spring but I will try not to do anymore talking about it.

another day of snow

This is very much how it looks here today..by tomorrow just add another 6 inches of snow on top of what we have here now and you will be seeing tomorrows blog I think. The season of Winter is probably going to be with us till spring this year...last year we got no snow till just a day before Christmas and today is the first of December so it will be a bit longer this year.
I hope everyone is enjoying what weather they have wherever they are..I talk to friends in Florida and they are in the mid 80's and even Georgia is on the warm side now 65 degrees.
